Great experience! Outstanding professionals. Absolutely fantastic flight on May 24, 2015 on the DeHavilland Otter - Turbo. Our group of 8 booked ahead of time (privately) avoiding extra fees from cruise line. The day was beautiful - we saw a pod of Orcas right after take off & our pilot Dave, Jr. circled for us all to a better view. Dave really was knowledgeable in all aspects of the MF National Monument & his narrative enjoyed by all over our headsets. The Otter is a beautiful plane - quiet, very comfortable exec seats and more! Landing at headwaters was spectacular - I was able to get our on pontoon & even spotted an Arctic Char under us in crystal clear water. This is truly beautiful wilderness & well worth every cent spent. Really friendly & knowledgeable staff with great pilot made our day! Thanks Misty Fiords Air... Beautiful views, an excellent pilot, solid aircraft, and a very worthwhile excursion. At $239/person, decently priced for the length and the experience. Just be sure to take some motion sickness meds before the flight in case you are sensitive like I am. The flight can get a little choppy at times since it is a small plane. When we got off of the boat in Ketchikan, we inquired about where the meeting point was (the Sunshine Gauge and Visitors' Center) and learned it was at the town square where a monument with several people and a giant thermometer were located. We then found a white shuttle for Misty Fjords Air and a representative outside. She checked us in and we boarded so that we could get seats (some people had to stand during the brief drive to the docks). After everyone else arrived, we drove about 7 minutes to a dock and were divided into groups and assigned our aircraft. My family was assigned...the Beaver. We met our pilot and were escorted to the plane. We then got in and were soon off and exploring the beauty of the not-so-Misty Fjords (it was a very sunny clear day) from above. We landed at one point right next to a waterfall and were allowed to get out onto the floats of the plane and look around. Our pilot explained what we were seeing all throughout our journey and we made it safely back to the docks. It was a wonderful adventure that I would recommend for everyone.
